Conferences and meetings

As a peak complaints resolution body working to support the improvement of health and disability services, HaDSCO attends and hosts a number of influential industry conferences and meetings.
During these networking opportunities, HaDSCO provides information and intelligence to attendees regarding trends in complaints, systemic issues and offers ideas for improvements.

A few examples of such activities include:

Asia Pacific Mental Health Conference 2012

Taking place between 11 and 13 June 2012, the conference will be exploring the relationships in mental health, recovery and wellbeing. HaDSCO will be in attendance during the conference and HaDSCO’s Director, Anne Donaldson, will be addressing the conference attendees to provide a brief overview of the specific challenges facing those with mental health issues when raising a complaint about the service being provided to them.

In addition, HaDSCO staff will host an exhibition booth and provide information to attendees about HaDSCO and its services.

Carers Conference 2012

The WA Carers Conference, themed ‘Caring at a Crossroads’ is taking place between 23 and 24 August 2012. The Carers Conference will be Western Australia’s principal carer event to be highlighted in the calendars of family carers, community services and care related organisations.

National Commissioners Meetings

Once a year, all Commissioners from complaint entities across Australia meet to discuss important operational and upcoming issues. These meetings offer complaint entities the opportunity to share expertise and best practice. Commissioners discuss a variety of topics including:

  • models for resolution and conciliation methods
  • investigative processes
  • legal issues and legislative frameworks
  • data collection and reporting systems
  • mechanisms for systemic and policy development
