  • Youth Action Plan Launch
Youth Action Plan Launch 17 October 2024 Last week we attended the launch of the Department of Communities WA Youth Action Plan. This three-year plan will deliver initiatives for young people across the state who are aged between 10 and 25. More than 2,200 young people were consulted to shape this plan and the most frequent issues were developed into six focus areas. These focus areas are: Amplifying young voices Climate action Achieving goals Cost of living Embracing diversity and inclusion. We are excited to contribute to this plan and to continue connecting with young people across the state. The launch of the plan provided us the opportunity to remind the young people in attendance that they have the right to safe and ethical health support. Read the full plan here.

The conference attracted nearly 1,000 delegates from across the country and provided us with the opportunity to learn more about healthcare challenges in rural communities. The event was held over three days and had over 200 speakers. When delegates weren’t listening to one of these speakers, they could learn how to weave baskets in the “CalmCorner” or chat with us at out stall. It was wonderful to take part in such important conversations, and congratulations to oursurvey competition winner!
  • Celebrating NAIDOC Week with Ombudsman WA and EOC
Celebrating NAIDOC Week with Ombudsman WA and EOC 12 July 2024 In celebration of NAIDOC Week this year, we partnered with Ombudsman WA for the City of Armadale’s NAIDOC Festival in Bob Blackburn Reserve. We also co-hosted an outreach stall in Perth CBD with the Equal Opportunity Commission (EOC). These events allowed us to connect and inform community members about their right to safe and ethical health care, to fair treatment, and to complain if they are not happy with the decisions or practices of a WA government agency or university. It was wonderful meeting so many community members and hearing their stories.
